Gouta Ramesh, a 4 year child experienced symptoms of knee tuberculosis. that limited his movement and caused intense pain. Although there were some delays, in his treatment due, to issues Gouta’s condition gradually got better with therapy. His story shows how he stayed strong in times underscoring the struggles associated with knee tuberculosis and the significance of care during knee tuberculosis.
He is 4-year-old Gouta Ramesh, a boy. He resides at Kyara Fala, a village 8 kilometers from Ghated. On the day of the doctor, he came with his parents. They complained that Gouta had stopped walking for two months because he had trouble bending his right knee, which was painful and also restricted in movement, making it difficult for him to do any mobility functions. A child has been diagnosed with extrapulmonary tuberculosis of the knee. The child had started the recommended treatment in February, but due to their poor financial condition, they had to stop the treatment in the middle.
The treatment resumed in June after a short break. At this point, the child’s right knee joint had developed a deformity. The parents are very concerned and depressed about their child’s condition. They wanted to see him playing with other kids as he was doing all the activities before his sickness because they sacrificed a lot, like selling his mother jewelry and mortgaging their two lands in the hope of seeing Gouta s better life. They always have to take their child along with them even when they go to work in farming. They can’t send him to phulwari or school for the studies that indicate how his sickness and deformity with the physical disability affected the life of a child and his family. To provide him with better care and to monitor his progress, the clinic team planned to begin his treatment with medications and physiotherapy procedures.
After receiving consistent physical therapy and medication for three months, the child is finally able to stand and take small steps without assistance. Although he still has a slight deformity, he is steadily improving. Due to the financial difficulties faced by his parents, they were fully committed to taking care of their child, Gouta. The results of their dedication were evident in the beautiful smiles and expressions of satisfaction on the faces of Gouta and his mother during their follow-up appointment with the health workers and clinic team.
The mother’s unwavering commitment to her child’s well-being was admirable and outstanding. She never missed a day of helping him with his exercises and ensuring he took his medications as prescribed.
